Hello Cub Scout families!

Please supply a new unwrapped item that fits the theme and get it to Leigh Ann Boyd or your Den Leader by February 28th.

Den Basket Themes are:

Snack Attack (snacks and other yummy items) – Tigers
Around Town (Gift Cards/local products/etc.) – Wolves
Beach Day (Beach/Water/Summer items) – Bears
Sports (any sports type items or gear) – Webelo I
Camping Trip (tools, gadgets, or gear for camping) – Webelo II

I hope we can raise enough to make a difference for some local families this year!  Hope you're having a great winter!

Veterans Day Parade Reminder

posted Nov 10, 2015, 5:58 AM by Michael Mitchell

Just a reminder that the Wickford Veterans Day parade is this Wednesday.

We will be meeting on the basketball courts in Wilson Park at 9:30 am.  Scouts should wear their class A uniforms.  Parents are welcome (and encouraged) to walk in the parade too...

The parade starts at 10:00 am.  We will walk through town, down Boston Neck Road, and turn on Fairway Drive.  Parents that aren't marching will need to sign for both drop off and pick up - and should meet us at the baseball field on Fairway drive for pick up.

The weather is calling for showers in the early morning then cloudy for the remainder of the day.  So please bring a rain jacket and/or umbrella.  I will send an update Wednesday morning if the parade commissioner cancels due to inclement weather.

Scouting for Food

posted Sep 30, 2015, 4:42 PM by Pack 1 Saunderstown   [ updated Sep 30, 2015, 4:46 PM ]

Hello Pack 1 Parents!

We're seeking a Scouting for Food Pack Coordinator to help with the annual Scouting For Food community service effort. We're also seeking den coordinators - one from each den -  to work with the Pack Coordinator. If you have not yet signed up to volunteer for one of our pack activities, you may wish to consider taking on one of these roles. Here's why....

  • it's fun
  • you get to meet other Pack parents
  • it doesn't require a lot of detailed planning
  • it takes only a few hours, spanning 2, back-to-back weekend days - Sat., Oct 31 & Sat., Nov 7
  • it's for an exceptionally worthy cause, the North Kingstown Food Pantry
  • no need to worry about finding a sitter, all family members are welcome to participate
  • makes a nice addition to the volunteer/community service section of your resume, and...
  • you'll be off the hook for your Pack Parent Volunteer responsibility requirement for the year!

SFF Pack Coordinator:  Working with the NK Scouting For Food (SFF) coordinator and our Pack den coordinators, your responsibilities would include:

  • Distributing door hangers to the den coordinators
  • Coordinating the dens' food collections and drop-offs
  • Assigning the food collection areas to the den (We have all the maps with the drop off/pick up area pre-divided)
  • Sending out a few reminders with the details about drop-off, pick-up, and delivery instructions.
  • Recording the number of Pack volunteers who participated.

SFF Den Coordinator:  Working with the Pack SFF Coordinator and with your den families, your responsibilities would include:

  • Coordinating the distribution of door hangers and food collection in your assigned areas for your den
  • Sending out a few reminders to your den parents with time and location logistics
  • Recording the number of den volunteers who participated

If you're interested in helping out the Pack in one of these roles,  please let me know at your earliest convenience.  Feel free  email me ( with any questions you may have. It's parents like you who keep Pack 1 thriving.  Thank you for all that you do!

Yours in Scouting,

Pack 1 Saunderstown
